SEO cloaking: Should you do it?
The question is rhetorical. If you read the title, you know that you shouldn’t. But what is it, anyway?
Certain admins will do anything to rank higher. SEO cloaking is a simple trick that works this way: you create two versions of your website. One version exists solely for Google or Bing crawlers, and the other is for humans.
Bad individuals use the method to trick everyone. Human visitors who trust Google will visit a low-quality web page, potentially full of harmful content, while Google will only see pristine SEO-optimized content.
Does cloaking work? Sometimes it does help to go up in the rankings, but in the end, it’s never worth it. Search engines are getting smarter every day. Cloaking is 100% forbidden, and every website which unitizes the method gets penalized severely.
A few years back, it was a legit way to go up. Now though? You’ll be risking everything. Is it worth it? Trust us, it never is.
